The Federal Capital Territory Administration, FCTA, Acting Secretary of the Health and Human Services Secretariat, Dr Mohammed Kawu has tested positive for Coronavirus (COVID-19).
Kawu confirmed his status while addressing journalists on Thursday at the Asokoro District Hospital where he is receiving treatment.
He narrated that he got admitted into the Isolation Center 12 days ago after he experienced feverish conditions.

Kawu, who is the equivalent to the Commissioner for Health, commended the frontline workers even as he urged Nigerians to acknowledge that COVID-19 is real and can be fatal.
“I want every Nigerian to know that this thing is real and anybody can be infected, especially those of us that are on the frontline.
“COVID-19 can be fatal and it is important that everyone follows all the extant guidelines of hand washing or sanitizing, maintaining social distance, wearing of facial covering, and staying at home.”
Kawu added that his infected family members are also being managed at the Abuja isolation center.
According to him, his case is that of a moderate infection and his symptoms were not severe.
“I had to be on intravenous (IV) drugs for about ten days. But I am stronger now, probably they will discharge me anytime soon,” Kawasaki added.
