The Abia State Commissioner of Police, Janet Agbede, has confirmed the killing of two revenue officials in Aba by a policeman, who is currently on the run.
She stated that the command had been “trying to lure him to Umuahia or Aba to hand himself over to the authorities.”
According to her, the policeman had assured his friend that he would hand himself in and told the command where to fetch him, only for him to drop his rifle and disappear.
The CP said the police were still looking for him.
The trigger-happy cop had killed two revenue officials in Aba last Wednesday.
The victims were identified as Izunna Enyinnaya, an undergraduate of the Abia State Polytechnic, Aba, who hailed from Umuokiri village in the Osisioma Ngwa Local Government Area of the state, and Ifeanyi Kalu from Alayi in the Bende Local Government Area of the state, while others ran for safety.
Kalu was said to have died at a hospital, while Enyinnaya died later.
According to an eyewitness, a bus belonging to a fast-food restaurant was impounded by the task force and the driver was said to have called to inform his office.
The office was said to have sent policemen who arrived at the scene with AK-47 rifles.
On arrival at the scene, one of the policemen was said to have started shooting indiscriminately and a bullet hit Kalu and Enyinnaya in the stomach.
