Yobe chief judge engages tribunal members in capacity training, promises impartial judgement


In its bid to ensure justice and fairness in the just concluded local government elections, Yobe State has declared open a five-day workshop to improve the capacity of the tribunal in handling controversial cases from the election.

Declaring the workshop open on Wednesday in the Mai Mala conference hall of the high court, Damaturu, Justice Kashim Kaigama urged participants to tap from the vast experience from the resource persons and use it all in the dispensation of justice to all, advising them to give their maximum cooperation to succeed.

He maintained that the training is emphasized to avoid unnecessary delay created by lawyers to dispense quick justice within time frame.

Earlier, in her welcome address, the chief registrar of the High Court, Barrister Aisha A. Abubakar wished them successful deliberation, and urged them to use the knowledge in practice as tribunal differ from normal court sitting and wish them success.

The participants were made up of chairmen and members of 3 Local Government appeal tribunals and that of 6 Local Government election tribunals.
