Some stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress party (APC) in Kebbi State have agitated for the zonal rotational governorship in the state.
Briefing newsmen shortly after a meeting at Argungu with stakeholders from the north and southern senatorial zones of the state, the Spokesperson of the forum and Permanent Commissioner, Kebbi State Civil Service Commission, Alhaji Abdullahi Mohammed said, their intention was to carry everybody along, but primarily targeting the position of the governor to be moved from one senatorial zone to another.
“Our movement is to seek fairness by allowing other zones to produce a governor of the state.”
He cited an example with the Niger State, whereby zonal rotational governorship is being adopted in the state.
“That is why we call it ‘movement’ for the rotational seat of the position of governor in Kebbi State”.
The forum equally called on the Minister of Justice and Attorney General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami SAN, to contest for the position of the president or vice president of Nigeria not for governor of Kebbi State.
According to the spokesman of the forum, “the Minister of Justice has never at anytime directly or indirectly, willingly or unwillingly come out to announce that he is vying for the seat of the governor of Kebbi State, but by his position as number three man in the Executive Council of the Federation, we feel he is good to contest for a higher position.
“If we are going to be fair to him, we can pray for him for better, come 2023 we should aspire him for the seat of the president or the vice president, but not to pull him down with the pull-down syndrome, to the position of the governor of Kebbi State” he added.
