A lady has been arrested by men of the National Agency for People Trafficking In Persons (NAPTIP) for always maltreating her little niece after she was seen in the act, in a video that went viral last night.

One of the woman’s neighbours simply identified as Jennifer, who spoke to Neptune Prime, disclosed that the unnamed woman was always in the habit of maltreating the girl and even when they tried to intercede on her behalf, she will always send them out of her compound.

“Yes, the woman is my neighbour but I don’t know anything about her or the little girl, I just see the way she maltreats the girl, anytime we try to intervene, she will send us out of her compound, so this time around we decided to make a video so the world can see.”

She disclosed that she sent the video to a friend identified as Adamgbe Sylvester.

When Sylvester was contacted by Neptune Prime, he disclosed that he sent the video to a humanitarian personality, Ukan Kurugh who resides in Benue State, who then shared the video on social media.

When contacted, Mr Kurugh disclosed to Neptune Prime, I’ve known that case over one week ago, though the woman was very hostile to her neighbours, insulting them and of course when they told me… I’ve not been around for the one week, so I said when I come back, I will visit the place, to know the woman myself and take the child away, only for these things to happen yesterday (Thursday).

“NAPTIP arrested her this morning, and I will go later in the evening today (Friday) to find out more about the case”, he said.

Confirming the development to Neptune Prime, a staff of NAPTIP who prefered to remain anonymous because he was not authorised to speak said, “The woman who was seen in the video that went viral last night maltreating a little girl has just been arrested by our men.

“I want to also use this medium to appeal to all of us social media users to always reach out to the relevant authorities for quick action, so that investigation follows up before going public, if not that may lead to the escape of the culprit most times as the case may be”.
