Kubes Family members in Gadaka town of Fika Local Government Area have appealed to Yobe State Governor Mai Mala Buni to end the lingering land dispute by compensating them with N99 million naira.
The Spokesman of the family, Ali Baba Kube made the plea in an interview with Newsmen in Damaturu.
According to him a land belonging to their family for over 100 years has been occupied with government structures without any compensation.
He revealed that “we inherited the land from our grand parents 100 years ago in Gadaka town but the Government built Central Primary School, Gadaka main market, Abbatoir and houses on it.
Kube explained that they have made several efforts to ensure that the matter is settled out of court amicably but unsuccessful.
“I on behalf of our family members filed the case at High Court of Justice, Potiskum in 2015, arraigned Fika Local Government Council, Gudi Emirate Council and Local Education Authority, the court delivered a judgement in our favor where it asked the Government to return our land to us.
“I wrote to the Government demanding compensation but to my surprise, I was served with invitation letter from the Court of Appeal, Jos, Plateau state, we went with our lawyer and won the case.
Upon return I wrote again to Yobe State Government seeking for compensation to put to an end the dispute but no response, I moved back to High Court of Justice, Potiskum seeking restraint and enforcement on our land, all the land occupants were asked to vacate our land in December, 2020.
“Yobe State Ministry of Justice invited us for outside court settlement, I honored that but with conditions of continued pursuing my case and independent registered land valuers after measuring the land, valued it at N99 million.
“We have passed through series of intimidations and threat to our lives over the land matter, I call on our amiable Governor Mai Mala Buni to approve the payment of the compensation to give way for peace and unity”.
