After an abysmal performance by Nigerian contingents at the last Tokyo Olympics Games 2020 in Japan, the country’s image in athletics has been redeemed after Tobi Amusan won the women’s 100 meters hurdles event at the just concluded Diamond League held in Zurich, Switzerland.

She is the first Nigerian to win a Diamond League Trophy since 2010.

Tobi also set a new African Record of 12.42secs.

Nigeria ranked 74 at the medals table of Olympics with just two medals from Ese Brume who won the bronze medal from the women’s long jump event and Blessing Oborududu winning silver medal from the wrestling event’s women’s freestyle 68kg.
