Resuscitate public schools from collapse – Dutse Monarch

The Galadima of Dutse, Alhaji Bashir Mohammed Sunusi has called on governments at all levels to resuscitate our public schools from imminent collapse.

The monarch, while speaking as guest speaker on the occasion of the 10th anniversary and graduation of Dutse Standard School, said that it is about time grassroots education is salvaged from imminent collapse.

The monarch lamented colossal decadence of infrastructural facilities coupled with gross inadequacy of teachers and learning facilities in public schools, urging the government not to allow public schools to die an unnatural death.

“Let our public schools be properly functional in terms of qualified teachers with modern teaching aids and learning materials”.

On his part, Professor Ismail Tsiga, a lecturer of Federal University Dutsin-Ma, Katsina State, stressed the importance of education as the bedrock to development, stressing that no nation could prosper without its people getting access to education.

The professor also advised parents and teachers to revive reading culture in students as our pupils are terribly bad at reading, especially in literature among other educative books, which will broaden their knowledge.

“As parents, we must encourage our pupils to indulge in reading novels so as to imbibe the spirit of reading culture, especially in collection of books comprising of our norms and cultural values.”

During the colourful event, sixteen pupils comprising of nine males and seven females graduated from the college this year, with Bintu Mohammed announced as the overall disciplined and talented graduand.
