NSCDC launch manhunt as bandits rape 2 minors, injure others in Kwara

Bandits have attacked Nuku village in Kaiama Local Government Area (LGA), of Kwara State, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) confirmed this in a statement signed by the Spokesman of the command, Mr Babawale Afolabi, and made available to newsmen in Ilorin on Thursday.

Afolabi said that the gunmen kidnapped two girls from a family and injured the head of the family and one other person with a machete.

He said even though the girls were later released by the criminals, the abductors had carnal knowledge of them, adding that the two girls are minors.

“In the early hours of 3 November, some yet to be identified gunmen invaded Alhaji Hassan Yunusa’s settlement at Nuku village in Kaiama.

“Investigations revealed that the assailants were actually looking for money, as they ransacked the whole place and could not find anything.

“They attacked Yunusa and Woru Yunusa with multiple machete wounds and went away with two girls, but later released them a few hours later.

“It was discovered that the abductors raped the innocent girls,” he said.

The spokesman said that the two victims are currently receiving medical treatment at a medical facility and a series of medical tests were carried out on them.

He, however, assured the general public that the suspects will not go unpunished as security operatives had started an investigation to apprehend the evil men for prosecution which will also serve as a deterrent to others.
