Police in Enugu nab father who murdered son for alleged money rituals

Chidi Onyishi, a 36-year-old man was arrested by the Enugu State police command, for allegedly killing his seven-year-old son, Chimdalu Chidi for money rituals.

It was learnt that the suspect, Onyishi, who resides at Taylor Avenue, Coal Camp, Enugu State, killed the boy and buried him in a shallow grave at the bank of a stream in Abakpa-Nike, and reported him missing two days later to the police.

Daniel Ndukwe, the Enugu Police spokesman, confirming the incident said according to investigations and receipt of credible information, police operatives attached to the Central Police Station (CPS), of Enugu State Command last Saturday, on 6 November 2021 at about 1910 hours, arrested the many for allegedly being responsible for the disappearance and murder of the boy.

It was further learnt that after confessing to the crime, Onyishi led police operatives to the arrest of one Pastor Okeke Eneokwor, who is said to be blind and of Dental Avenue, Trans-Ekulu, Enugu, whom he fingered as an accomplice.

He also led police operatives and medical teams to a stream in Abakpa-Nike, Enugu where the decomposing corpse of the minor was exhumed from a shallow grave.

The Commissioner of Police, Abubakar Lawal, has ordered the State CID Enugu to conduct a thorough and conclusive investigation that would lead to the prosecution of everyone found culpable in the act.

He also called on residents to remain vigilant, law-abiding and promptly report criminals and their activities to the nearest Police Station or by calling the Command’s emergency hotlines.
