ICPC names Kano federal lawmakers with poorly executed constituency projects

The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) has said that it monitored 104 constituency projects in Kano during its third phase of executive and constituency projects tracking.

The anti-graft agency said 16 of the projects were poorly executed and three were abandoned.

ICPC Commissioner in-charge of Kano and Jigawa, Barrister Ibrahim Garba Kagara told reporters yesterday that 79 contractors were involved in the execution of the projects and nine of them have been directed to return to site due to shoddy jobs.

Kagara said out of the federal lawmakers that sponsored the various projects, one Senator and two House of Representatives members had the worst poorly executed projects that include Kano Central Senator, Malam Ibrahim Shekarau, Honourable Mustapha Bala Dawaki, member representing Dawakin-Kudu/Warawa Federal Constituency and Honourable Muktar Mohammed, Kura/Madobi/Garun Malam Federal Constituency

However, Senator Barau Jibrin had the best constituency projects executed to specification,’’ the ICPC Commissioner noted.

The constituency projects sponsored by the federal lawmakers include the construction of classroom blocks, Solar powered street lights and distribution of transformers.

”We need the support of the general public and the media in the monitoring of these projects, especially the ongoing electricity substation in Bichi, ”the ICPC Commissioner said.

He noted that one of the constituency projects that is ongoing is the electricity sub-station in Bichi local government area and the recovery of a Ford model pick up vehicle.
