DSS nab retired naval general, Bello Dambazau in Kano

A Retired Naval General, Bello Idris Dambazau was arrested yesterday in Kano by the Directorate of State Security Service (DSS) for activities described as economic sabotage.

General Dambazau is the half brother of the former Chief of Army Staff, Retired General Abdulrahaman Dambazau, and was the chairman of the Consumer Protection Council in Kano State.

Dambazau was alleged to have ordered the closure of seven petrol stations without government approval.

According to DSS report, when the seven filling stations were closed, it became very difficult to locate Dambazau and his men in order to sort the matter out amicably and get the stations functional.

After several unsuccessful attempts to reach him, DSS officials launched a search for Dambazau together with his men and they were later arrested, for causing fuel shortage and economic sabotage.

Dambazau was once the Commissioner for Special Duties during the Kwankwaso administration, but they later fall out and he is now with Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje.
