The Bauchi Emirate Council has reacted to the recent attack on the Emir of Bauchi, Alhaji Rilwanu Suleiman Adamu and Emir of Dass, Alhaji Usman Biliyaminu Usman on their way to attend the late Baba Gonto’s 21st memorial anniversary in Tafawa Balewa.
The Emirate expressed their position on Tuesday at the end of the council meeting of the Emirate in Bauchi State.
Reading the communique reached at the end of the meeting, the Galadiman Bauchi, Surveyor Sa’idu Ibrahim Jahun said “it’s unfortunate at this modern era where peace is fragile in the state, and indeed the nation, those patriotic miscreants who don’t wish the state well come out to disturb the peace and tranquillity we have been enjoying in the state by attacking the emirs of Bauchi and Dass on their way to Bogoroto to honour the invitation of late Baba Gonto’s anniversary.”
The communique which was signed by Alhaji Bala Abubakar Attahiru Ajiyan Bauchi, senior councillor and Alhaji Shehu Mudi Mohammed, Secretary said “Several attempts were made by the miscreants on the convoys where cars were smashed including the spare car of the Emir of Dass and Bauchi which forced them to turn back to avoid any loss of lives and properties.”
The Emirate described the incident as barbaric, provocative, misleading and urged the state and federal government to constitute a strong committee of investigation to fish out the perpetrators and bring them to book to prevent a reoccurrence of the dastardly act.
