Gov Ganduje invites prominent Islamic scholars, others to pray for peace

Governor, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje has invited the leader of Tijjaniyya Worldwide, Sheik Shariff Ali Bil Arabi Al-Tijjani, a team of other clerics and hundreds of prominent Islamic scholars in Kano to pray for the state and Nigeria at large for peace to reign in our fragile country.

The event took place at Sani Abacha Memorial Stadium before it was moved to the Emir of Kano’s Palace. The Governor was presented at the ceremony with a copy of the Holy Qur’an by the leader of the Tijjaniyya for his contribution to the development of Islam.

A copy also was given to the Emir when the prayer session was moved to his palace, in fact, the Emir made available his official car for the use of the Tijjaniyya leader up to when the occasion will end.

The prayer session took place at a time, the former Emir of Kano, Sanusi Lamido Sanusi was holding another prayer session in Kogi State.

Last year when Sanusi visited Kaulaha in Senegal he was said to have been crowned as Tijjaniyya leader in Nigeria, but after the Kano prayers which was attended by Sheik Dahiru Bauchi, Professor Ibrahim Maqari was named as the new Tijjaniyya leader in Nigeria.

The clerics prayed for lasting peace in Nigeria, for the elimination of banditry activities, kidnappings, and other forms of criminalities.

Similarly, they prayed for peace and protection of Kano State and the successful transition in the country in 2023 from the present political leaders to other new sets of politicians.
