Popular Chinese actor, martial artist, Jet Li, reveals why he stopped acting

Popular Chinese actor and martial artist, Li Lianjie, who is also known as Jet Li has revealed why he stopped acting.

The 59-year-old actor who rose to fame after appearing in the Hong Kong classic “Once Upon a Time in China”, is best known for how good he is at martial arts and how he plays noble and humble heroes in Chinese movies.

The movie marked a turning point in Chinese martial arts cinema, ushering in what Criterion calls Hong Kong cinema’s golden age in the 1990s.

Following that, the actor gained prominence in Hollywood alongside martial artists like Jackie Chan and Maggie Cheung, as well as filmmakers like John Woo, all of whom went on to become action movie superstars.

In 2013, when appearing as a guest host on a Chinese talent show, the “Romeo Must Die” Jet Li revealed his illness (via The Hollywood Reporter). He explained, “I’m not in agony, but I’m in discomfort, I’m satisfied”.

Jet Li was diagnosed with hyperthyroidism in 2010. The condition causes weight loss, tiredness, and an erratic pulse, according to the Mayo Clinic, by speeding up the metabolism.
